Anatomy is an Australian black and death metal band from Melbourne that was founded in 1989, disbanded in 2000 and has been active again since 2015.

history

The band was formed in July 1989. After participating in various samplers and releasing various sound carriers, the debut album Where Angels Die was released in 1995 by Modern Invasion Records . After that they went on tour and Anatomy opened up for Impaled Nazarene . Under the title The Witches of Dathomir , the second album followed in 1999 via Bleed Records . This includes a cover version of the Possessed song The Exorcist . The following year it was dissolved, and the band has been active again since summer 2015. In the same year the group took part in the Black Conjuration Festival in Adelaide . In the following year further appearances followed, among others together with Tribulation , Chemical Cascades, Hobbs' Angel of Death , Persecution , Debacle and Oligarch. In 2017 the band took part in the Black Clouds Mass - "Metal Meet" hosted by Bleed Records.

style

Brian Giffin called the music raw black metal in his Encyclopedia of Australian Heavy Metal. Joel McIver saw it similarly in his book Extreme Metal II , who described the songs as very aggressive, darkly produced Black Metal. On rockdetector.com the music is summarized as a mixture of black and death metal.
