Anatswald is a district of the Oberstdorf market in the Bavarian district of Oberallgäu .
The hamlet, which is laid out as a scattered settlement , is just under seven kilometers south of Oberstdorf , east of the Stillach in its valley, which is formed here as a wide meadow.
In 1637, so-called moving houses or feed houses are mentioned for the first time, where residents of the surrounding villages moved with their cattle for some time in winter to feed the hay stored there. At the beginning of the 19th century a small permanent settlement had developed from it. In 1848 three permanently occupied houses are reported. Until 1965 the school for the entire Birgsau valley was located in the village.
The name of the place could possibly have been the personal name Anno .
