Carl Gustaf Ludvig Greek

Carl Greek (born April 28, 1909 in Limhamn , † September 28, 1991 in Sölvesborg ) was a Swedish Lutheran pastor and writer.

Life

Greek graduated from high school in Malmö and studied theology at Lund University . 1935–37 he worked as a seaman minister in Danzig and 1937–44 in Newcastle upon Tyne . In 1945 he returned to his homeland as a pastor in Malmö and from 1956 was pastor in Östra Ljungby ( Scania ), from 1962 until his retirement in 1974 as provost ( contract provost ).

He published several detective novels under the pseudonym "Anders Hellén". The novel En ljugande malm (1973), which takes place in a medieval monastery environment , was awarded by the Svenska Deckarakademin . In the Stora mordboken (1991) Johan Wopenka describes the novel as "perhaps the best historical crime thriller that has been written in this country". In the National Cyclopedin, K. Arne Blom calls him "the most perfect Swedish historical thriller".

When GK Chesterton's classic crime novel The Secret of Father Brown appeared in a Swedish translation in 1980, Carl Greek wrote the foreword. Greek was a member of the Skånska Deckarsällskapet and wrote for various newspapers and magazines.
