Not so Hennig

Anders Henning Hennig (born May 22, 1864 in Jönköping , † April 19, 1918 ) was a Swedish geologist, petrograph and paleontologist .

Life

Hennig began his studies in 1883. After completing his doctorate at Lund University in 1892, he was a lecturer there in geology and from 1907 in hydrography. He was also active in teacher training, at the Natural History Museum and for the geological survey of Sweden. Study trips took him to Germany, Holland, Belgium, France, Austria and Italy. He worked on the geological-palaeontological side of the Tibet monograph by Sven Hedin (On the petrography and geology of Southwest Tibet 1915). In 1911 he received the title of professor.

He examined among other fossil corals, shells, bryozoans ( bryozoans ) and echinoderms (sea urchins) from the Silurian to Cretaceous, Tertiary and Quaternary. In particular, he dealt with the geology of Skåne .

In 1900 he became a member of the Royal Physiographical Society in Lund . From 1898 he discussed Swedish geological literature for the New Yearbook of Mineralogy, Geology and Paleontology.
