Anders Koppel (born July 17, 1947 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish composer and musician.

The son of the composer and pianist Herman D. Koppel received piano, clarinet and organ lessons at a young age . He co-founded the rock group The Savage Rose and founded the trio Bazaar in 1976, which released a total of nine albums. During the time in the two groups, Koppel began to work intensively with compositions.

In his creative period, which continues to this day, Anders Koppel wrote many very different works for various classical ensembles . His most famous compositions are the " Toccata for Vibraphone and Marimba " (1992) and the "Concerto for Marimba and Orchestra" (1995), which have been performed all over the world. Koppel also wrote the music for eight ballets , some of which were highly acclaimed, and more than 125 films, 50 plays and three musicals . His most recent works include the works “Concerto for Double Bass and Orchestra” (2000), “Concerto no. 2 for Marimba and Strings” (2000) and “Concerto for Percussion and Orchestra” (2001).

Koppel's particular attention to the “unknown” and less considered instruments for his almost without exception solo concerts seems to be striking .

In 2003, Koppel was invited to a portrait concert by the Mozarteum University. In the Mozart year 2006 he was one of eight composers for the work “VIVA! Mozart Suite ”, which was premiered in November of the same year at the music festival of the International Society for New Music .
