Entrance building of the station

The Anderson Regional Transportation Center is a station of suburban and long-distance traffic in Woburn in Massachusetts ( United States ). It is located on the west end of Atlantic Avenue in the northeast of the city. From here, the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority's suburban trains run to Boston , Lowell and Haverhill , as well as Amtrak down- easter trains to Boston and Portland (Maine) .

history

In the course of the resumption of the express train service from Boston to Portland by the Amtrak, the station was planned between the cities of Wilmington and Woburn in order to be able to connect both cities with a station. It opened on April 28, 2001, nine months before Amtrak began operations. At the MBTA, he replaced the Mishawum stop , which is only a few hundred meters south and has only been served by individual trains during rush hour since then.

Investments

The track area is at ground level. The station has a central platform that lies between the tracks of the double- track Boston – Lowell railway line . To the west of the two platform tracks, there is also a through track for freight trains that is used in both directions. The reception building at 100 Atlantic Avenue is located east of the tracks and is connected to the platform by an overpass. It has a ticket office, toilets and some small shops. There is no passage to the western side of the station.

A double track change was installed south of the station and a single track change in the direction of Lowell to the north.
