Andex Records
Andex Records was an American music label that existed in the late 1950s and is best known today for its West Coast jazz records .
Andex Records was a label owned by Rex Productions, founded by two entrepreneurs, brothers John and Alex Siamas, in Los Angeles in 1957; under this roof they led several record labels, including Andex. They worked with producers Bumps Blackwell and Bob Keane and were fortunate enough to have a hit with Sam Cooke's "You Send Me". The Andex label was intended for jazz and gospel music. The label also released a few rhythm & blues and rock'n'roll singles, for example by JW Alexander . In the area of the Gospel appeared singles from The Pilgrim Travelers and The Original Gospel Harmonettes on Andex, even light music by Rene Bloch and Herb Alpert ( "The Hully Gully"). In the field of jazz, according to Tom Lord, between 1958 and 1960 Conte Candoli , Jerry Fuller , John Graas , Bill Holman , Bob Keene , Mel Lewis , Art Pepper , Jimmy Rowles and Dempsey Wright , as well as The West Coast All Star Ninetet ( International Premiere in Jazz , with Jack Sheldon , Bob Enevoldsen , Buddy Collette , Art Pepper, Bill Perkins , Paul Moer , Red Mitchell , Red Callender , Larry Bunker , John Graas) their recordings on the label.
The catalog was reissued in the 1980s, first on vinyl, particularly by Fresh Sound Records , then on compact disc by VSOP Records .
