Jorge Vistel (* 1982 in Santiago de Cuba ) is a Cuban jazz musician ( trumpet , composition ).

Vistel comes from a family of musicians; his younger brother Maikel is also a jazz musician (saxophone). He began learning the trumpet at the art school in his hometown at the age of nine. At a young age he began to be interested in jazz. He studied at the Escuela Nacional de Arte in Havana; he also received lessons from Steve Coleman , Wynton Marsalis , Nicholas Payton , Steve Turre and Barry Harris .

Vistel has participated in numerous festivals around the world, including the Monterey Jazz Festival , Bermuda Jazz , Jazz Plaza Havana , the Montreux Jazz Festival and the Cully Jazz Festival .

Together with his brother Maikel he founded the band Vistel Brothers . In 2005 he decided to migrate to Europe to perform with Benny Golson , Doug Hammond , David Murray , Henry Cole , Lewis Nash , Dado Moroni , Benny Green , Marcus Printup , Stefano Bedetti and Gary Thomas . In 2010 he and his brother (and with Román Filiú , David Virelles , Reinier Elizarde and Juanma Barroso as Vistel Brothers ) presented the album Evolution on Fresh Sound Records . His trio album Cimarrón with Reinier Elizarde and Michael Olivera followed in 2014 and the album Tierra a la vista reinforced by the pianist Edgar van Asselt . In the same year he toured with Alfredo Rodriguez & The Invasion Parade . His last album Ossain in a quartet followed in 2015 .
