Michael Olivera García (* 1986 in Santa Clara ) is a Cuban jazz musician ( drums , composition ) who also works as a producer .

Live and act

After training in classical percussion, Olivera graduated from the Escuela Nacional de Arte in Havana in 2005 . His career began at a young age: In 2002 Román Filiú brought him to his quintet; since 2005 he has belonged to the Afro-Cuban rock band Sintesis .

At the age of 26 he moved to Madrid, where he quickly became a sought-after part of the jazz scene. So far he has been involved in more than 50 albums and numerous projects, for example in the bands of Edgar van Asselt Vistel, Luis Verde, Pepe Rivero and Daniel García Diego , with whom he is also documented on albums. Olivera has played with Quincy Jones , Alfredo Rodriguez ( Tocororo , The Little Dream ), Steve Turre , Rick Wakeman , Javier Colina , Sting , Tomatito , Iván Melón Lewis , Pablo Martín Caminero , Jorge Vistel and Yonathan Avishai and at festivals like the North Sea Jazz Festival , the Montreux Jazz Festival , the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal or the Jazz Jamboree .

As the leader of her own band (with Ariel Brínguez , Marco Mezquida , Borja Barrueta, Munir Hossn , Luis Dulzaides and Miryam Latrece), Olivera released his debut album in 2016, Ashé , a word that comes from the Yoruba language and whose meaning is "divine blessing" . He presented the album more than fifty times in Spain in just one year and received good reviews internationally; then he toured with his production Oasis , which was also released as a phonogram in 2018. He also produced albums by Antonio Lizana and Miryam Latrece. ,
