Pablo Martín Caminero (* 1974 in Vitoria-Gasteiz ) is a Spanish jazz musician ( double bass , composition ) who is also active in the field of classical music and flamenco .

Martín Caminero began studying classical double bass at the age of seventeen at the Conservatories of Bilbao and Vitoria. In the meantime, he taught self-taught the bass guitar in and dabbled in other genres of music. From 1994 to 1999 he studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Josef Niederhammer and Herbert Mayr . During his training he was a member of the EGO (Youth Orchestra of the Basque Country) and the Joven Orquesta Nacional de España ; He also played with the Orchestra of Ciudad de Granada, the RIAS Youth Orchestra Berlin and the Vienna Jeunesse Orchestra .

After graduating, he moved to Madrid, where his professional career as an interpreter, composer and producer began. He was a member of the sextet of Chano Domínguez and the trio of Gerardo Núñez . He also worked with groups such as Ultra High Flamenco , Abe Rábade Trío, bandArt, Hippocampus, Euskal Barrokensemble , but also with Jorge Pardo ( Huellas ), Perico Sambeat , Antonio Serrano , Niño Josele , Rocío Molina , Enrike Solinís ( Colores del Sur ) and Rosario La Tremendita.

Martín Caminero and his band have released five albums with flamenco jazz under his own name , Doméstica (2005), El Caminero (2011), OFNI (2014), Salto al vacío (2016) and Bost (2020). Trombonist Toni Belenguer, saxophonist Ariel Brínguez , pianist Michael Olivera and percussionist Moisés P. Sánchez make up his quintet, which has existed for almost ten years . In addition, he interprets Flamenco standards in a quartet with Rycardo Moreno (guitar), Enrique Rodríguez Enriquito (trumpet) and Marc Miralta (drums). In the Fellini Quartet he works with Andreas Prittwitz, Claudio Constatini and Federico Lechner with the music of Nino Rota .

Martín Caminero has also been working as a film composer since 2006 and wrote the music for feature films such as El Menor de los males by Antonio Hernández or El plan by Polo Menárguez , as well as short and documentary films. With Antonio Ruz he created the choreography Double Bach , in which he plays the first two cello suites by Johann Sebastian Bach in pizzicato and accompanies the contemporary dancer Melania Olcina; Double Bach premiered in 2016 at the Festival Internacional de Teatro Clásico de Almagro . With Ruz he also composed the music for the Electra production of the Spanish National Ballet.
