The cargo ship type Andizhan was the most built series cargo ship type in the German Democratic Republic .

history

Three ships of the Andizhan series at the equipment quay

The series was manufactured from 1958 to 1962 in 46 units by the Neptun shipyard . In summary, the series Andizhan and Kolomna as well as the ships Thälmann-Pionier and Christo Botev are also referred to as type 201.

The first ship and namesake of the series was the Andizhan , which was handed over to its Soviet shipping company on September 13, 1958 and named after the Uzbek city Andijon , with hull number 251 and IMO number 5016303. Andizhan , based in Shdanow , was handed over to North Vietnam in 1986 and in Song Da 2 , stayed in service until December 1995 and was then scrapped. The 46 units of the Andizhan series were completely delivered to the Soviet Union . The last ship in the series was the Kholmogory with hull number 248 , which was handed over on December 20, 1962. The majority of all Andizhan ships were abandoned after around 25 years of service. However, some copies were operated until the second half of the 1990s.

technology

After the experience gained during the construction of the Kolomna ship type and the two successor ships Thälmann-Pionier and Christo Botev , the Andizhan ships were converted from the steam engine propulsion used previously to the more fuel-efficient diesel engine propulsion. The two 4-stroke diesel engines of the type 8SV 55 Au, each with an output of 920 kW, were supplied by VEB Görlitzer Maschinenbau and acted on a fixed propeller with a diameter of 4.48 m and a speed of up to 90 revolutions per minute via a reduction gear with hydraulic clutch.

As in the previous series, the predominantly welded hulls were joined together in sectional construction.

The four cargo holds with a ball space of 5635 m 3 were closed sea-tight with conventional shear sticks , covers and tarpaulins . The loading gear consisted of eight loading booms for 5 tons each, one 15 ton and one 40 ton loading boom which were attached to novel "A" -shaped masts.
