Andor Arató

Andor Arató ( Andreas Ackermann ; born December 9, 1887 in Lugos , Kingdom of Hungary , Austria-Hungary ; † March 31, 1964 ) was a Romanian-German church musician and composer.

Life

Arató, born in Lugos, Hungary, became cantor and teacher in Hatzfeld in 1921 . In 1926 he returned to his hometown, where, with one interruption, he worked as cantor until 1959. Here he founded the Jubilate church choir and organized regular church concerts and motet performances; so was z. B. In 1933 Bernard Mettenleiter's passion music, The Last Words of Jesus on the Cross, performed.

In 1933 Arató published the German church hymn book Frohlocket dem Herr! For the Catholic community of Lugoj . which is in use to the present day.
