André Gardère (born May 8, 1913 in Gérardmer , † February 16, 1977 in Paris ) was a French foil fencer .

Life

André Gardère was runner-up with the team in 1934 in Warsaw , 1935 in Lausanne and 1937 in Paris . In 1938 he won his only international medal in singles with bronze in Pieš mitany . The 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin he finished with the team in silver after the French team, which also included René Bondoux , René Bougnol , Jacques Coutrot , René Lemoine and Gardère's brother Édwardcounted, had to admit defeat to Italy in the final round . He finished the individual competition in seventh place, with the saber team he was fifth.

Gardère was engaged as a fencing master several times for coat-and-epee films , and in some cases he also worked as a stunt coordinator or choreographer for fencing matches.
