André Lanly

André Lanly (born March 20, 1911 in Chirac-Bellevue, Département Corrèze , † June 3, 2007 in Paris ) was a French Romance scholar, linguist and literary scholar.

life and work

Lanly grew up speaking a dialect, graduated from grammar school in Tulle , studied in Clermont-Ferrand and was a grammar school teacher and later a high official in the school and university administration in Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria. He completed his habilitation in Paris in 1961 with Gérald Antoine (who had previously taught in Clermont-Ferrand) with the two theses Le français d'Afrique du Nord (Algérie-Maroc). Etude linguistique (Paris 1962, 1970, 1994, 2003) and Enquête linguistique sur le Plateau d' Ussel (Paris 1962). He first taught at the University of Algiers and from 1962 at the University of Nancy .
