Michiel van der Kuy

Michiel van der Kuy (born July 10, 1962 ), pseudonym Denzil Slemming , is a Dutch musician and music producer . He studied classical music (piano). Chopin is one of his favorite composers.

His most successful projects include Laserdance , LA Style and Koto . He has also been involved in vocal groups such as Claudia T and Gina , but mostly focuses on music of the genre synth / dance.

Laser dance

Van der Kuy celebrated his greatest successes with laser dance.

Koto

At the end of the eighties van der Kuy was commissioned by ZYX to reissue some pieces of music for the Italian instrumental group Koto . On the album Masterpieces (1989) there are some new compositions in addition to old Koto pieces. Two albums with covered pieces of music followed later. a. and other own compositions such as B. Time and Acknowledge . In 2001 A. Maiola got the rights back.

Rygar

The Rygar project was later intended to replace Laserdance . The sales figures of Laserdance at the end of the 90s could no longer match the earlier figures, whereupon the project was shut down by the founders ( Erik van Vliet and van der Kuy). Rygar has been around since 1989, but The Album wasn't released until 2001 . Was published The album on their own label Made Up Records . In 2010 Rygar appeared on a new piece of music called The Eagle on a free downloadable sampler from the New York label Space Sound Records , followed in 2012 by the second album, Modulation , also on Space Sound Records .

Area 51

In 2004 and 2005 the Rygar duo around van der Kuy and Rob van Eijk released two more Spacesynth albums under the name AREA 51 , these on the Swiss label Hypersound : Jupiter Beyond and Message From Another Time . The albums, with their more modern, rhythmic sound, initially met with positive opinions from fans of van der Kuy, but the second album was more negative and the project was shut down.

Made Up Records

Made Up Records is u. a. known through a number of megamixes. The music of the mixes comes mainly from the production of van der Kuy. The first Megamix Made Up Records Megamix vol. 1 was released in 1989.
