André Neury

André Neury (born September 3, 1921 in Geneva ; † May 9, 2001 ) was a Swiss football player . He was a Swiss national soccer player and took part in the soccer world championships in 1950 and 1954 .

Defender Neury started his career at FC La Chaux-de-Fonds . In 1939 he switched to the Young Fellows Zurich , where he stayed until 1942. He then went to Servette FC for one season , from there to FC La Chaux-de-Fonds. Here he stayed until 1947. From 1947 to 1951 he played for FC Locarno and from 1951 to 1955 again for FC Servette. Here he ended his professional career.

His greatest club success was reaching the Swiss Cup final in 1951 with FC Locarno against FC La Chaux-de-Fonds. Here they lost 2: 3.

National team

The Swiss made his national jersey debut on May 21, 1945 against Portugal . Neury was part of the Swiss national team at the World Championships in 1950 and 1954. In 1954 he was involved in the legendary heat battle of Lausanne in the game against Austria (final score: 5-7). In total he played 29 times in the national team (no goal).
