André Odermatt

André Odermatt (* 1960 ) is a Swiss politician ( SP ). Since 2010 he has been a member of the Zurich city council and head of the building construction department.

biography

André Odermatt studied geography at the University of Zurich and obtained the diploma for higher education in 1994. In 1996 he received his doctorate in philosophy . His dissertation deals with the ownership structures of the Swiss housing market . He also worked as an assistant in the Department of Economic Geography at the University of Zurich. From 1995 to 1997 he worked on a project at the University of Zurich and from 1997 to 1998 lecturer at the Cantonal School in Zug . Odermatt then worked as a senior assistant and project manager in the Department of Economic Geography at the University of Zurich and taught at the Cantonal Matura School for adults. During this time he built up the research focus “Urban Geography” and “Geography of Housing”. From 2004 to 2010 he was a research assistant responsible for the technical training of secondary teachers at level I. Before his election to the city council, Odermatt also headed the Chair of Economic Geography ad interim.

Political activity

From 1995 to 2010, André Odermatt member of the municipal council of the city of Zurich . During this time he was President of the Council in 1999 and 2000. In addition, Odermatt was president of a special commission from 2004 to 2006 and a member of the municipal business audit commission from 2006 to 2010 . From 2004 to 2010 he held the office of vice-president in the council group of his party. Odermatt has been a member of the city council and head of the building construction department since 2010.

Odermatt sets its political priorities in the qualitative development of the growing city. Urban planning and architecture are an important cultural asset for Odermatt . Plans and rules

During his tenure to date, Odermatt has driven the development of planning bases to cope with the expected population growth of the city of Zurich of 80,000 additional residents by 2030. With the regional structure plan and the revision of the building and zoning regulations in 2016, he has politically and legally anchored two important pillars for the development of the city.

Building permit procedure

As part of the “Improvement of the Building Permit Procedure of the City of Zurich (VBBV)” project, Odermatt is committed to making the building permit procedure more user-friendly. Part of this project is also the commissioning of the “Helpline” contact point for construction matters: An offer for building owners who have complaints and concerns about their construction decision.

Project cost clarity

Immediately after taking office as a member of the city government in 2010, Odermatt started the “cost clarity” project. By means of studies, the building construction department had the planning and construction costs of residential, school and health buildings examined.
