André Pilot
Manfred André Kömpel-Pilot (born May 7, 1895 in Würzburg , † 1944 ) was a German actor and singer.
Career
Before the outbreak of the First World War , he trained as an operetta tenor at the Berlin Academy of Music . After serving in the front, he began his career in stage and film under the name Manfred Kömpel . In Vienna , in particular , he became a crowd favorite among theater audiences: on the occasion of a stage guest performance, the Badener Zeitung described him as the “most beautiful man in Vienna”. Under his new stage name André Pilot , he achieved considerable success in the early years of the sound film . After 1933 he concentrated almost exclusively on his stage work. He was u. a. engaged at the Württemberg State Theater in Stuttgart.
