André Simonazzi

André Simonazzi (* 1968 in Monthey , Canton of Valais ) has been Vice Chancellor and Federal Council Spokesman of the Swiss Confederation since April 1, 2009 .

Simonazzi attended the college of the St-Maurice college after compulsory schooling . He completed the Matura (type B) in 1988. He then studied at the University of Geneva , the specialist International Relations . He finished this in 1992 with a licentiate .

He completed his training as a journalist at the Walliser newspaper Le Nouvelliste before joining Caritas Switzerland in 1995 . There he was press spokesman for French-speaking Switzerland and head of information.

Since 2004 he has been Head of Information in the Federal Department of Environment, Transport, Energy and Communication . On November 12, 2008, Simonazzi was appointed Vice Chancellor of Switzerland and Spokesman for the Federal Council. He took office as the successor to Oswald Sigg on April 1, 2009.
