Andre Gassner (born November 14, 1883 in Feldkirch ; † February 15, 1959 in Bludenz ) was an Austrian politician and manufacturer. From 1934 to 1938 he was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament .

education and profession

Gassner attended elementary school in Feldkirch and then graduated from the state high school in Feldkirch. He graduated from high school in 1903 and then served his military service as a one-year volunteer with the Emperor Ferdinand No. 4 Dragoon Regiment from 1903 to 1904 . On January 1, 1905, he was appointed lieutenant in the reserve and then attended the commercial academy in Graz from 1904 to 1905 . He also studied between 1905 and 1907 at the state technical center for the textile industry in Reutlingen .

Gassner began his professional activity between 1908 and 1909 with a technical and commercial practice at the company Getzner, Mutter u. Cie in Feldkirch and Bludenz. He was then employed there from 1910 to 1913 as technical manager of the weaving mill and the finishing company in Bludenz and from 1911 was also a personally liable partner. After serving as Rittmeister in the First World War between 1914 and 1918, he returned to the service of his previous employer. In 1927 he became chairman of the management committee of the company Getzner, Mutter u. Cie.

Politics and functions

Gassner was active in local politics from 1924 to 1934 as a member of the city council of Bludenz and in 1934 was appointed by the Vorarlberg governor to be a member of the state parliament as a representative of the industry and mining profession. He was a member of the state parliament from November 14, 1934 until the annexation of Austria on March 12, 1938. He was also a member of the regional management of the Fatherland Front in Vorarlberg and from 1935 to 1938 a representative of industry and mining on the advisory board of the regional manager.

In addition to his political commitment, Gassner was a member of various supervisory boards. He worked as chairman of the supervisory board of the Fohrenburg brewery, F. Gassner u. Comp., Was a member of the supervisory boards of the Bank for Tyrol and Vorarlberg and of the Zementwerke Lorüns AG. He also worked as a member of the Vorarlberg Economic Council, was chairman of the Bludenz Alpine Club section and president of the scout movement.

Private

Andre Gassner was born as the son of the factory owner Richard Gassner (1841–1909) and his wife Maria Katharina Getzner, who was born in Nenzing . On April 5, 1913, he married Ida Denk (1891–1975), who came from Stuttgart, in Stuttgart, although the marriage did not result in any children.
