Andrea Štaka (* 1973 in Lucerne , Switzerland ) is a Swiss film director and screenwriter .

biography

Andrea Štaka started her career as a photographer at an early age , but later switched to film and directing . She completed her film studies at the University of Art and Design (today ZHdK ), Zurich .

She became known with her film Das Fräulein , for which she was awarded the Golden Leopard at the Locarno International Film Festival in 2006.

In 2015 she received the award for socially relevant film at the Max Ophüls Prize for her film Cure - The Life of Another .

Her third feature film Mare premiered in 2020 in the Panorama section of the Berlin International Film Festival.

Andrea Štaka works today as a director, screenwriter and producer. She lives with her partner, the filmmaker Thomas Imbach , and their son in Zurich. She worked with her husband on various projects.
