Andrea Da Mosto
Andrea Da Mosto (born January 9, 1868 in Graz , † August 18, 1960 in Venice ) was director of the Venice State Archives from 1932/37 to 1940 . He published an overview of the holdings there and the state structures of the Republic of Venice, which is still valid today .
Andrea Da Mosto was born as the son of Antonio and Carlotta Bartakovich di Kis Apponyi in Graz, Austria. He received his doctorate in law and initially worked as a lawyer. On June 2, 1894, he was named alunno di I categoria in the Rome State Archives , and three years later he became sottoarchivista di III classe . In 1906 he was promoted to the II class . Although he was called up for military service from May 7 to July 7, 1902, he was then able to resume his archivist service.
On July 7, 1907, he moved to Venice, where he rose from sub-archivist to archivist, first III and II class, then from January 15, 1918 I class , after having participated in the battles of the First World War from 1915 to 1918 . Since 1913 he was a corresponding member of the Deputazione veneta di Storia Patria , in 1920 he became a member of the Ateneo Veneto . From April 24, 1920 he was archivist and also rose in this position from gruppo A, grado X to VIII , whereupon he also became archive manager, from January 5, 1932 director. From 1936 to 1937 he was reggente della direzione of the State Archives.
