Andrea Germer (Japanologist)

Andrea Germer (* 1965 ) is a German Japanologist and editor as well as associate professor at Kyūshū University .

Life

Andrea Germer studied Japanese Studies, Political Science and German Studies at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg , the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg and at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum . She went through studies abroad from 1989 to 1990 at the University of Kobe and in 1997 at the Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto .

1996-1996 Germer was assistant in the Network Gender Studies NRW of the country North Rhine-Westphalia .

In 2001 Andrea Germer wrote her dissertation on historical women's studies in Japan at the Ruhr University in Bochum . The reconstruction of the past in Takamure Itsue's "History of Women" (Josei no rekishi) .

From September 1, 2001 to June 30, 2007, Germer worked at the German Institute for Japanese Research (DIJ), where she worked and published in the areas of gender studies and women's historiography in Japan , international feminist theory and social movements .
