Andrea Kocsis (born September 16, 1965 in Mülheim an der Ruhr ) is a German trade unionist. She is the deputy federal chairwoman of the United Services Union (ver.di) and heads the federal department of postal services, forwarding agents and logistics. Since May 29, 2007 she has been a member of the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Post AG and its deputy chairwoman.

Life

Andrea Kocsis grew up in Mülheim an der Ruhr, where she graduated from the Gustav Heinemann Comprehensive School in 1985. She then studied social work at the University of Essen until 1988 . She then studied Romance, English and German at the University of Duisburg for a master's degree until 1991 . From 1991 she worked in the postal service of the Deutsche Bundespost and took on voluntary tasks in the German postal union . In 2001 she became a full-time trade unionist and worked as a trade union secretary for the postal union in Düsseldorf. When ver.di was founded in 2001, she was part of the regional management of the postal services, forwarding and logistics department in North Rhine-Westphalia. From 2005 she headed the state department. In 2007 she was elected to the ver.di federal board. At the federal congress in Leipzig in October 2007, she received 90.7 percent of the delegate's votes. She succeeded Rolf Büttner , who in May 2007 was elected President UNI Postal of the international trade union UNI Global Union .

Andrea Kocsis is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation of the German Employees Academy and the Board of Directors of the Hans Böckler Foundation (as of the beginning of 2019) .

At the 2019 federal congress in Leipzig, 91.5 percent of the votes were again elected as deputy union chairman.

As deputy chairwoman she is responsible in the union for the department 10 forwarding, postal services, logistics; General wage policy department, law and legal policy, judicial office, organizational policy, event organization, control and complaints committee, senior citizens.
