Christine Behle (born July 12, 1968 in Wuppertal ) is a German trade unionist and former inspector of the city of Wuppertal. She has been on the federal executive committee of the United Services Union (ver.di) since 2011 and has been deputy chairwoman since 2019.

Life

After graduating from high school at Bayreuther Straße in 1988, Behle began her training as a city inspector in the same year. In 1989 she joined the trade union for public services, transport and traffic (ÖTV) and was a member and chairwoman of the youth and trainee representatives until 1993, two years after starting work for Wuppertal . From 1994 she attended the Dortmund Social Academy for one year , from 1995 she was a full-time speaker or secretary of the ÖTV, from 1999 she headed department 3 of the United Service Unions at district level , from 2005-2011 at state level for North Rhine-Westphalia . On December 19, 2011, she was elected to the federal board of ver.di, and she also heads Department 11 for Transport .

She has been a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany since 1993 , a member of the Workers' Welfare Association , the Socialist Youth of Germany - Die Falken and was a member of the city council of Wuppertal between 2004 and 2009. Behle is a member of the supervisory board of Stadtwerke Köln , Via Verkehrsgesellschaft and deputy chairwoman of the supervisory board of Lufthansa AG .

At the 2019 Federal Congress in Leipzig, she was elected as deputy union chairman with 91.1 percent of the vote.

As deputy chairwoman of the union she is responsible for department 4 social insurance, department 6 federal and state, department 7 municipalities, department 11 traffic, department 13 special services, collective bargaining public service, workers, civil servants.
