Andrea Leitgeb

Andrea Leitgeb (* 1963 in Tyrol ) is an Austrian doctor and officer with the rank of general . She is the first female brigadier in the Austrian Armed Forces .

biography

Andrea Leitgeb first studied human medicine and then completed an apprenticeship as a specialist in general surgery. She began her military career in January 2001. After completing her training service, in August 2001 she took up a position as senior physician and surgeon in the Army Hospital in Stammersdorf . From November 1, 2001 to June 30, 2002, Leitgeb completed an international assignment as a battalion doctor in the Golan in Syria . Since 2004 she has been working in the army medical school. On March 31, 2014, Andrea Leitgeb , who holds a doctorate in medicine, was appointed by the Austrian Defense Minister Gerald Klug and at the same time promoted to brigadier to commandant of the medical school. The medical school of the Austrian Armed Forces is responsible for research and teaching of the medical service as well as the advanced training of all military medical personnel .
