Andrea Mantovani (born June 22, 1984 in Turin ) is an Italian football player . His preferred position is central defense, but he can also be used as a left defender.
Career
Mantovani began his career at FC Turin , where he was part of the professional squad from 2002. On January 19, 2003, he completed his first appearance in Serie A when he was substituted on for the game against Como Calcio . By the end of the season he came to seven more missions, but could not prevent relegation to Serie B. For the 2003/04 season he was loaned to league rivals US Triestina . For the 2004/05 season he returned to Torino, but left the club again after a year because Torino did not get a license for Serie A despite sporting promotion.
Mantovani joined AC Chievo Verona, with whom he finished seventh in Serie A in the 2005/06 season. As a result of the Juventus Turin scandal , Chievo Verona even reached fourth place, qualifying for the UEFA Champions League . There they failed, however, at Levski Sofia , so that they took part in the 2006/07 UEFA Cup , where the club was eliminated in the first round against Sporting Braga . In the 2006/07 season, Chievo Verona relegated to Serie B, but returned to Serie A after just one year.
In the summer of 2011, Mantovani Chievo left after six years and moved within Serie A to US Palermo .
National team
Mantovani was used for all Italian junior national teams and was U-19 European champion in 2003 .
