Andrea Pancur (born January 16, 1969 in Munich ) is a German musician and actress. With her songs she moves mainly in the tradition of Yiddish and Bavarian music .

Life

Pancur studied after high school at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich teacher for English Studies and History . After the first state examination, she had her voice trained with Maria Collien, Renate Glaser, Naomi Isaacs and Ingrid Zacharias.

Her family had come at the beginning of the 20th century from Slovenia to Munich so that Pancur to the almost defunct Eastern Europe from these roots out klezmer tradition was attracted. In 1994 she and five others founded the klezmer group Massel-Tov , with which she was twice nominated for the Ruth World Music Prize; the album Shtile trit was on the list of the best of the German Record Critics' Prize . From 2003 she was the singer of the world music quartet Bappa E Zittu . In 2008 she dropped out of both groups and turned to her own projects: at Alpen Klezmer she devoted herself to songs from Bavarian and Yiddish song culture with the Latvian multi-instrumentalist Ilya Shneyveys, at Federmentsh with the Cologne trio A Tickle in the Heart to contemporary Yiddish song and at Das SchostakowitschProjekt with the modern klezmer quartet of the work of Dmitri Dmitrijewitsch Schostakowitsch . She performed at concerts a. a. in Austria, Liechtenstein, Israel, Italy, the Netherlands and the USA.

Pancur, who has also worked as an actress since 2000, designed the Statt-Theater concept for Munich, which combines city tours with acting performances. At the 150th anniversary of the incorporation of the districts of Au , Haidhausen and Giesing , she herself appeared on the Munich tram as a singing and history-savvy “culture conductor ”.

Every two years it organizes a klezmer festival in Valley , during which the Mosche Beregowski Prize for young ensembles was awarded for the first time in 2007 in cooperation with the Yiddish Summer Weimar eV .
