Andrea Provana was a submarine of the Italian Navy .

construction

Although already laid down in 1915 , construction progressed so slowly that the boat could not be put into service until 1918. The boat was based on the designs of Cesare Laurenti and Virginio Cavallini. The high surface speed of 16 knots was compared to an underwater speed of  only 9.3 knots. The maximum diving depth was 50 meters.

Whereabouts

The tower and part of the hull were erected in Turin after it was decommissioned in 1928 .

Surname

The boat was named after Andrea Provana , an admiral of the Duchy of Savoy .
