Press review

Excerpts from press comments:

  • "[...] Aigmüller is not an embittered sound tinkerer, more of a carefree emcee who juggles with melodic phrases and rhythmic set pieces. His idiom ranges somewhere between Mahler and Stravinsky, between amber, jazz and bolero. [...]"
  • "[...] The role of the timpanist in the orchestra is mostly underestimated by laypeople. He has to listen very carefully to the timbres and develop a sense of volume proportions. Orchestra - this intimate craftsmanship becomes tangible. Instrument combinations emerge that would hardly occur to a composer who assesses an orchestra primarily from the audience's perspective. [...] "
  • "[...] He is a master of instrumentation. [...]"
  • "[...] Trained in Berlin, seven years solo timpanist of the Staatskapelle Berlin, since 1985 in Salzburg, Andreas Aigmüller wrote works for music, spoken and dance theater, for orchestra and chamber music. He formulates his thoughts in one of the performing musicians and orchestral language stimulating the listeners. [...] "
