Anise Koltz

Anise Koltz , née Blanpain (born June 12, 1928 in Eich , Luxembourg ) is a Luxembourgish writer .

Life

Anise Koltz attended the Lyceum between 1940 and 1947.

She was the founder and organizer of the Mondorfer Dichtertage, which from 1963 to 1974 and from 1995 to 2001 brought together Luxembourgish and foreign authors, especially German and French , in Bad Mondorf . From 1972 to 1975 Koltz was a librarian at the Thomas Mann Library , the Luxembourg branch of the Goethe Institute . Anise Koltz lives in Luxembourg. She was married to René Koltz, a Luxembourg doctor. She is the grandmother of the filmmaker Beryl Koltz .

Relationship to the German language

During the occupation period, Koltz had to deal intensively with the German language and literature as a student. Hence it is that her first works are written in German. In 1971 her husband René Koltz died as a result of torture by the Nazis . These elements explain the author's difficult relationship with the language, especially with the German language. Progressively, she writes less and less in German, only to drop the language completely in the 1980s and only write French .
