Andreas Behr (speed skater)

Andreas Behr (born June 27, 1975 in Erfurt ) is a former German speed skater .

He started skating on ice when he was ten. In 1989 he went to what was then the Fritz Noack children's and youth sports school in Erfurt. The greatest success with the juniors was the bronze medal over 500 meters in 1994 in Berlin. He trained at the Eissportclub Erfurt under several coaches (Haik Lengenfeld, Torsten Hopp, Peter Wild), most recently he trained in Stephan Gneupel's training group . Until February 2005 he was actively represented in national and international competitions.

Andreas Behr was German sprint champion four times. Between 1997 and 2005 he competed for Germany at eight world championships and 30 world cups. The 15th place over 500 meters at the individual distance world championship 1999 in Heerenveen was his best international result in the seniors. In 2001 Andreas Behr ran one of his three German records over 500 meters in 35.53 seconds, and he set the other two over the 100 meters.
