Andreas Brämer

Andreas Brämer (* 1964 ) is a German historian .

Life

From 1987 to 1993 he studied at the University for Jewish Studies in Heidelberg and at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem . He received his doctorate in Jewish Studies from the Free University of Berlin in 1997 . Since his habilitation in 2004, he has been teaching as a private lecturer in the history department at the University of Hamburg .

Before moving to the Institute for the History of German Jews in 1997 , he worked as a research assistant at the University for Jewish Studies and at the University of Duisburg . In 2005 he was appointed deputy head of the IGdJ, as its acting head he also served in 2011/2012.

As a representative of the IGdJ, he spent the 2014/2015 academic year in Philadelphia , where he joined an international and interdisciplinary research group at the invitation of the Herbert D. Katz Center for Advanced Judaic Studies at the University of Pennsylvania .
