Life

Andreas Fehler, b. Skirt purse, comes from a GDR working class family. At the age of 14 he joined the Young Historians working group of the Bad Langensalza Pioneer House . During this time he began to collect and determine travertine fossils from his hometown and / or shell limestone fossils (Unstruttal near Nägelstädt).

In 1989 he graduated from the Second Polytechnic High School “Dr. Salvador Allende ”and at the time of the fall at the Salza-Gymnasium the Abitur. From 1991 to 1994 he learned the profession of geoscientific taxidermist ( high school diploma ) at the higher vocational school for preparation technology in Bochum. He began to publish natural history for the first time during his military service. Since 1995 he has been employed as a thin section taxidermist at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel .

From 1996 to 2003 Andreas Fehler was a member of the Kiel environmental education association Geo-step-by-step . With the help of the association he got to know Schleswig-Holstein. He gave geological and natural history lectures or went on bike tours (e.g. around the Kiel Fjord ) for those interested in natural history.

In 2003 he switched to the Association of Writers in Schleswig-Holstein. He organized book exhibitions, held numerous readings, founded the private literary quintet and in 2011 was a founding member of the Kiel cultural group NIKE . In 2016, Andreas Fehler resigned from the Association of Writers during the Literature Days in Lübeck and switched to the Association of German Writers (Kiel-Plön).

Fehler saw himself as a mediator between East and West Germany: in younger years through slide shows and exhibitions, today more in observing, reflecting on and writing about current events and people. The history of the GDR, its human failure, but also the driving forces behind our human existence are repeatedly the subject of his poetry and prose.

At the beginning of 2016, he started the Kiel book donation “Books - instead of bombs”. Intended for the children of refugees to promote their German language skills. The children's books were handed over on the day of the child in front of the gate of the former Kiel refugee camp “ Nordmarksportfeld ”.

Since 2018 Andreas Fehler has been a member of the Pax optima rerum university group at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel.
