Andreas Glück (born March 8, 1975 in Münsingen ) is a German politician of the FDP and former member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg . He has been a member of the European Parliament since 2019 .

education and profession

Andreas Glück grew up in Dottingen . After completing secondary school in Münsingen, he attended a school in Washington State in 1991 and 1992 , before graduating from high school in Münsingen in 1995. He then did civil service with the rescue service of the DRK Reutlingen and completed training as a paramedic . Afterwards he was a full-time employee of the DRK Reutlingen. In 1997 he spent three months in Bosnia and Herzegovina for the aid organization HELP . Glück then studied human medicine at the University of Tübingen for seven years . He then worked as an assistant doctor in surgery at the Reutlingen District Clinic. It is used in both Reutlingen and Münsingen. He has been a specialist in surgery since 2009 and is in training for the additional qualification of trauma surgery.

Andreas Glück has been a member of the FDP since 1995. Since October 2009 he has been a member of the Münsingen municipal council. In the 2011 state elections , he won a second mandate with 7.4% of the votes in the Hechingen-Münsingen constituency , making him temporarily the only liberal member of the state parliament from the Tübingen administrative region . He acted within the FDP parliamentary group as a spokesman for environmental and energy policy, integration, economic cooperation and development.

At the 2019 European Party Congress , he was elected to third place in the FDP's list for the 2019 European elections , thereby gaining a mandate in the European Parliament . He then resigned from the state parliament in July 2019.

Family and private

Andreas Glück is the son of the FDP politician Horst Glück (1940-2004), who sat in the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg from 1996 until his death. He belongs to the Protestant denomination. He is married to Isabel Glück and has had a son since February 2010 and a daughter since April 2013.
