Andreas Gleich

Andreas Gleich (* 1625 in Erfurt , † 1693 in Gera ) was an organist and church musician.

Initially studying theology in Erfurt, he switched to music on the recommendation of Heinrich Schütz's brother , Benjamin Schütz , and became a student of the Thomaskantor Johann Kuhnau and thus Heinrich Schütz's grandchildren . In 1643 he accompanied Schütz on his third trip to Copenhagen and in the same year he became a “children's informator” for the Saxon general superintendent Nikolaus Zapff in Weimar , as well as organist and church musician in Mellingen (near Weimar). In 1647 he published the Symphoniae sacrae II by Heinrich Schütz in Dresden (together with the court organist Johann Klemm ). In 1648 he became figurative cantor at the Gera Latin School on the intercession of Heinrich Schütz, succeeding Peter Neander . He held this office until his death.

His son Johann Andreas became court preacher in Dresden.
