Andreas Gottlob Schwarz

Andreas Gottlob Schwarz (* 1743 in Leipzig ; † December 26, 1806 in Ansbach ) was a German composer and bassoonist .

Life

Schwarz received his training from the court musician Müller in Karlsruhe . As a young member of a Hautboistencorps he took part in the Seven Years' War , after which he was a guard musician for Duke Karl Eugen von Württemberg . He was bassoonist of court music, under the direction of Niccolò Jommelli , from 1769 to 1775. In 1776 he moved to the court orchestra of Margrave Karl Alexander von Brandenburg-Ansbach-Bayreuth , where in 1786 he was appointed chamber virtuoso.

Extensive concert tours, approved by the margrave, took him from 1787 to England, France, Poland and Germany, where he performed in London, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Vienna and smaller cities, which cemented his reputation as one of the most distinguished German bassoonists .

Works

Of his compositions, a bassoon concerto in F major, two bassoon sonatas in B major and a Tantum ergo for four voices, orchestra and organ are listed in the RISM directory.
