Andreas von Arnim

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Andreas Graf von Arnim (born July 27, 1958 in Darmstadt ; † March 30, 2005 in Berlin ) was a German manager . As CEO of Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) , he was responsible for restructuring the company from October 2002 until his death.

Life

Andreas von Arnim came from the von Arnim family in the Uckermark . He attended the Ludwig-Georgs-Gymnasium in Darmstadt and studied business administration from 1979 to 1982 at ESCP Europe in Düsseldorf, Paris and Oxford.

He worked for the Unilever Group, was a consultant at McKinsey and then switched to DKV Euro Service . From 1995 he was Chairman of the Management Board at Raab Karcher Sicherheit GmbH, was appointed Chief Sales Officer of Micrologica AG in 1998 and founded LexLinkLine AG in Düsseldorf in 1998.

In October 2002 he took over the chairmanship of the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) in his adopted home Berlin . With declining subsidies from the state and the federal government, higher electricity and diesel costs, the opening up to competition, line concessions that will soon expire and with too high a workforce under the aftermath of the collective agreement (exclusion of redundancies for operational reasons), it should bring the loss-making company to the "black zero" to lead.

Arnim died on March 30, 2005 during a physiotherapy session in the Martin Luther Hospital of a multiple pulmonary embolism as a result of an accident through no fault of his own with his service Smart on the city highway on February 22, 2005. He left two sons. On May 27, 2005 he was buried in the Uckermark .
