Andreas Haitzer

Andreas Haitzer (* 1967 ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and dispatcher. From 2013 to 2015 he was a member of the Salzburg state parliament and has been mayor of the community of Schwarzach im Pongau since 2008 .

education and profession

After attending compulsory school in 1987, Andreas Haitzer completed an apprenticeship as a company electrician and has been working as a dispatcher for the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) since 1993 . He has also been involved in the emergency intervention team (NIT) at ÖBB since 1999 and was a member of the works council from 2003 to 2005. At the beginning of 2011, Haitzer was released as an ÖBB dispatcher in order to be able to devote himself to his work as mayor.

Politics and functions

Haitzer became a member of the local committee of the community of Schwarzach im Pongau in 2001 and was sworn in as a community councilor in Schwarzach im Pongau after the municipal council election in 2004. In 2005 he rose within the party to the position of deputy local party chairman of the SPÖ in Schwarzach im Pongau, and in that year he also became a member of the SPÖ – Pongau district committee and a member of the SPÖ – Salzburg regional committee. He became the deputy mayor of Schwarzach im Pongau in 2006 and took over the office of mayor of the community on April 25, 2008. In the subsequent mayor's direct election in 2009, he was able to defend his mayor's chair with 86.6% in the first ballot, achieving the best result of all SPÖ mayors in the state of Salzburg.

Haitzer ran for the 2013 state election and was sworn in as a member of parliament on June 19, 2013. He was a member of the finance committee, a member of the education, school, sports and culture committee and a member of the committee for infrastructure, transport and housing. As his political concerns, he mentions the local public transport - Innergebirge and the associated expansion and fair distribution of EU funds.

In addition to his political mandates, Haitzer has also been chairman of Naturfreunde Salzburg since November 27, 2010, and has also been vice-president of ASKÖ Salzburg since 2010.

On March 17, 2015, he resigned his state parliament mandate, followed by Gerd Brand .

Private

Andreas Haitzer has been married since 1991 and has two daughters. One of his hobbies is running, including running marathons. In 2008 he took part in the Mayor's European Football Championship.
