Andreas Heldmann

Andreas Heldmann (* 1688 in Birthälm , † 1770 in Holm ) was a Transylvanian-Saxon historian and Germanist .

Life

Heldmann was baptized on February 1, 1688. He received his education until 1709 at the grammar school of Mediasch . He switched to the high school in Sibiu . There he was appointed historiographer in 1711, which meant that he had to give a lecture on a historical topic to his younger classmates once a month. On December 6, 1711 he left Sibiu to study at universities. However, he probably joined Swedish troops and got to Uppsala . He was there for the first time in 1713, but was not enrolled at Uppsala University until 1715.

In 1719 Heldmann got a job as a lecturer for the German language at the University of Uppsala and held this position until 1750. He was also Gantmeister there at the university. In 1731 Held obtained his master's degree in philosophy . He is said to have had a large family. He died in Holm before February 5, 1770.
