Andreas Karow (born November 3, 1958 ) is a German defense lawyer, player advisor and former professional footballer.

Soccer career

In 1977, Andreas Karow made the leap into the professional squad of Hamburger SV under manager Peter Krohn from his own youth as a youth national player . During that successful time he was in a team with Kevin Keegan , Felix Magath , Rudi Kargus , Horst Hrubesch and Manfred Kaltz, among others , and was able to become German champion in his second professional year with manager Günter Netzer and trainer Branko Zebec . In the heavily occupied Hamburg squad, Karow made four Bundesliga appearances and a few cup games in spite of his Abitur and military service, as well as a 1977 Supercup against Liverpool, where a 1-1 draw against Liverpool in the Volksparkstadion was achieved.

He then moved to SV Darmstadt 98 in 1979 in the 2nd Bundesliga, where he became a regular player and in 1981 celebrated promotion to the Bundesliga with Hessen. Jörg Berger and Werner Olk were the coaches there at that time .

Because of his law studies he went to Munich for SpVgg Unterhaching , where he played in the third-class Bayern division from 1981 to 1988 . With coach Peter Grosser (German champion 1966 with 1860 Munich and 1990–2011 vice-president of SpVgg Unterhaching) and teammates like Rainer Adrion (previously VfB Stuttgart, currently coach of the German U-21 national team), Kurt Eigl (previously Hamburger SV) and Reiner Maurer (later Bayern Munich, currently trainer TSV Munich 1860), Andreas Karow reached 2nd place in the promotion round to the 2nd Bundesliga in 1983; A win in the last game at SSV Ulm was missing for promotion.

In 1988 Karow moved to Altona 93 in the Oberliga Nord and fought against clubs like VfL Wolfsburg and Holstein Kiel for promotion to the 2nd division.

Legal practice

From 1994–1996, Andreas Karow was assistant at the chair for criminal procedure law at the University of Greifswald and at the same time a lawyer and criminal defense attorney in Greifswald. 2002–2004 he was a partner in the business partnership of the former HSV president, Olympic participant and former TV sports presenter Wolfgang Klein .

In 1996 he was a defense lawyer before the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court in the so-called "Landshut proceedings" for the hijacking of a Lufthansa jet in 1977 to Mogadishu . In 2009 he stood out in criminal proceedings against doctors.

He heads the criminal law working group in the Hamburg Lawyers' Association , which serves to train lawyers and defense lawyers.
