Andreas Letz (born June 5, 1962 in Sömmerda ) is a former weightlifter from the German Democratic Republic . He started in the weight classes up to 56 and up to 60 kilograms.

Letz won one gold, five silver and six bronze medals at world championships between 1980 and 1986. Furthermore, he won several medals at European championships , at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow , he took fourth place. The athlete from SC Karl-Marx-Stadt came second in the push.

In addition, the Karl-Marx-Städter set two world records in thrusting in 1983 and a world record in duel in 1981.

In 1984 Andreas Letz was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze.

Doping in the GDR

In 1980 Letz received, among other things, 4000 mg of oral turinabol and 1500 mg of clomiphene as part of the state-operated forced doping system of the GDR .
