Andreas Mähl (born March 2, 1961 ) is a former German soccer player. He played in the GDR league for BSG Kernkraftwerk Greifswald and BSG Post Neubrandenburg in the 1970s and 1980s .

Athletic career

With 17 games in the 1978/79 season for the company sports community (BSG) Kernkraftwerk Greifswald, Andreas Mähl's career began in the second-rate GDR league. In the more than 22 rounds of the season, Mähl was used as a defender. In 1979/80 he played the first two league games, but then had a break of several weeks before he played the remaining ten league games on matchday 13. Of the 22 point games in the 1980/81 season, Mähl completed 17 matches again, after which BSG KKW rose from the GDR league.

It was not until the 1982/83 season that Mähl reappeared in the GDR league, now as a player in the BSG Post Neubrandenburg. He was used in two league games and could not prevail in the following two seasons with three or six appearances at BSG Post. In May 1985, Mähl was drafted into the National People's Army for 18 months . During this time he played football with the army sports community Vorwärts Fünfeichen in the fourth class district class Neubrandenburg . At the end of the season he rose to the district league with the ASG and was district champion with her in 1986. He could not play for promotion to the GDR league, as the ASG refrained from participating in the promotion round.

After his discharge from military service, Mähl returned to Greifswald to the BSG nuclear power plant. This now played again in the GDR league, in which 34 rounds have now been played. Mähl was used again from the 10th day of the 1986/87 season, but now playing in the attack. In his 23 missions, however, he came only to one goal. In 1987/88 he played the first four league games in the starting line-up, after which he was only called up at irregular intervals for a long time, mostly as a substitute. In five games at the end of the season he played in defense, in total he played 20 point games in which he scored two goals. For the season 1988/89 Mähl was announced again as a defender in the squad of BSG Kernkraftwerk, but was only used in the defense on the 4th match day. It was his last of 90 GDR league games that he had played for Greifswald nuclear power plant. Although only 27 years old, he did not appear in the higher leagues after that.
