Andreas Michel (theologian)

Andreas Michel (* 1963 in Waldshut ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian ( Old Testament scholar ).

Life

Michel studied Catholic theology and history at the University of Freiburg , the University of Jerusalem and the University of Tübingen . From 1988 to 1991 Michel studied Ancient Near Eastern Studies and Egyptology in Tübingen . In 1990 he was assistant in the Old Testament at Walter Groß in Tübingen in 2000 , with whom he also received his doctorate in 1997. From 2000 to 2005 he was assistant in the Old Testament to Hermann-Josef Stipp at the University of Mainz . In 2003 he completed his habilitation in Tübingen. Michel has been Professor of Biblical Theology at the University of Cologne since 2006 .

Michel is married to Claudia Lücking-Michel and has three children.
