Walter Groß (theologian)

Walter Groß (* 1941 in Würzburg ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian and Old Testament scholar .

After studying Catholic theology in Rome at the Pontifical Gregorian University and the Pontifical Biblical Institute, as well as at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , Groß was ordained a priest in 1967. He received his doctorate in 1974 in Munich and completed his habilitation in 1976, also in Munich. He then worked for a short time as a private lecturer .

From 1976 to 1980 Groß held the chair for Old Testament at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz , then and until his retirement in 2009 he held the chair for Old Testament at Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen .
