Andreas Mylius (philologist)

Andreas Mylius (born March 25, 1606 in Königsberg (Prussia) ; † November 22, 1649 ibid) was a German philologist and educator.

Life

The son of the theologian Georg Mylius had attended the cathedral school in Königsberg and began studying at the University of Königsberg in 1624 . On August 11, 1632, he moved to the University of Wittenberg , where he acquired the degree of master's degree on October 15, 1633 . In 1635 he returned to Königsberg, became professor of the Hebrew language and on September 20, 1640 took over the rectorate of the cathedral school (the later Kneiphofer grammar school) in Königsberg, which he remained until the end of his life. His body was buried on November 25th.
