Andreas Patzer

Andreas Patzer (born January 1, 1943 in Marburg ) is a German classical philologist .

Andreas Patzer, son of the philologist Harald Patzer (1910-2005) was, in 1970 at the University of Heidelberg in Uvo Hoelscher and Franz Dirlmeier with the dissertation Antisthenes the Socratic: the catalog of the writings represented the literary work and philosophy doctorate . After his habilitation , he worked as an academic director, and from December 1, 1998 as an adjunct professor at the University of Munich . In 2008 he retired.

Patzer's research focus is early Greek and Socratic philosophy. He is the author of numerous articles and monographs in this area. He also edited the correspondence between Professors Franz Overbeck and Erwin Rohde (Berlin / New York 1989) and wrote the historical reader forays through the ancient world (Munich 1989), which was published three more times.
