Andreas Pehnke

Andreas Eckhard Pehnke (* 1957 in Greifswald ) is a German educational historian and university professor who lives in Chemnitz.

Life

From 1977 to 1981 Pehnke completed a teaching degree at the University of Education in Leipzig. In 1984 he received his doctorate with a thesis on the reform pedagogue Heinrich Scharrelmann from Bremen , then worked as an educational scientist in Leipzig, Berlin and Halle. His habilitation followed in 1990 with a study on reform pedagogical teaching concepts in Wilhelmine Germany. In 1993 he was appointed to the chair of general education (systematic, historical and comparative education) at the University of Greifswald .

Services

Pehnke discovered u. a. also the estate of about 5,000 pages of the then decisive Chemnitz experimental school teacher Fritz Müller in Bremen and evaluated it. Together with Alfred Fichtner, who lives in Bremen - who was a student of Fritz Müller at the Humboldt School in Chemnitz and was a new teacher in Chemnitz under director Fritz Müller after 1945 - he handed over the scientifically evaluated documents to the Chemnitz City Archives.

His main research interests include the reception of reform education in international school reform efforts, the history of East German as well as Eastern and Central European reform education, the transformation process in German education, peace education and teacher measures in the 20th century.
