Career
Andreas Pušnik went through the junior stations of the EC KAC and made his debut in the fighting team in the 1988/89 season. His shirt number was 7, the former shirt number of his father Josef . With the Klagenfurt team he became Austrian champion in 1991 and vice- champion in 1996 and 1997. From 1997 to 2002 he played for derby rivals EC VSV , with whom he was Austrian champion in 1999 and 2002, and vice-champion in 2000 and 2001. As the reigning champion, the VSV was also eligible to start with Pušnik in the European Hockey League 1999/2000 , but could not qualify for the final round with third place in the A group. With 80 goals, he is ranked 24th on the eternal VSV goalscorer list.
After he had terminated his contract with the VSV by mutual agreement, Pušnik played from 2002 to 2006 for HC Innsbruck , with whom he reached third place in the Bundesliga in 2003, 2005 and 2006. For the 2006/07 season he returned to the EC KAC, but his contract was prematurely terminated after 13 games in November 2006 by the club's board.
Andreas Pušnik was also a long-term member and captain of the national team, with which he took part in four B World Championships, six A World Championships and two Olympic Games (1994, 1998).

Name spelling
- The correct name spelling for this ice hockey dynasty is everywhere according to the Pušnik birth certificates , but Sepp Puschnig has always been spelled with "sch" and "g" in the media. Andy Pusnik (Pušnik) should actually be written without a Háček over the "s" because it is entered in this way in the passport.
