Andreas Schäfer (born February 5, 1983 in Daun ) is a former German professional football player . He played during his active career from 2011 to 2004 at 1. FC Kaiserslautern II , from 2004 to 2009 at VfL Osnabrück , from 2009 to 2011 at Karlsruher SC , from 2011 to 2013 at FC Ingolstadt 04 and most recently from 2013 to 2015 at FC Viktoria Cologne . Then he ended his professional career and began a teaching degree for the subjects German and sport.

Career

Schäfer played for SV Steiningen in his youth and moved to the second team of 1. FC Kaiserslautern in the Regionalliga Süd in 2001 , before he was signed in 2004 by the then northern regional division VfL Osnabrück . At the end of the 2006/07 season, Schäfer was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga with VfL . There he was used as a left full-back and left midfielder. Schäfer made his debut in professional football on August 19, 2007 against SC Freiburg . As in the previous two years, he was one of the pillars of the team in the promotion year and secured relegation with this. At the beginning of the 2008/09 season, Schäfer was able to convince with his numerous assists and led the scorer rating of the 2nd division.

Schäfer moved to the Bundesliga relegated Karlsruher SC for the 2009/10 season and received a two-year contract there. Schäfer was a regular at KSC in the left defensive position and made 58 appearances in two seasons, but his contract was not extended in the summer of 2011. Schäfer then moved to second division competitor FC Ingolstadt 04 and signed there for the next two years. In the summer of 2013 he moved to FC Viktoria Köln, where he stayed until 2015 and then ended his playing career. He has lived in Osnabrück since 2015 and is studying to be a teacher for German and sport, and he also plays for the regional league team SpVgg Gaste-Hasbergen.
